- Ammon together with his brother Moses enlisted Sept.5,1861 in the Civil War,in Co.G 81ST.Pa.Vol.The 81 participated in a number of engagements including the Battle of Antietam.On May,12,1864 Ammon was wounded by a minnie ball at the Battle of Spottsylvania.He and his brother were discharged together on Sept.15,1864.
